Become a UKBAA-accredited angel investor
UKBAA supports a professional and quality-based approach to angel investing. There are many experienced angel investors who are professional in their approach to backing small businesses.
Whilst High Net Worth Individuals and Sophisticated individuals are able to self certify to make investment in small businesses, there is no requirement under the UK financial legislation for angel investors to be accredited.
UKBAA has established a new angel-accreditation framework to recognise those investors with the experience and expertise to make investments in businesses with growth potential and support a successful outcome.
This creates a step change in the angel market enabling investors to be recognised for their experience and for entrepreneurs and those working in this market to identify the accredited investors with skills and experience to bring to their investments.
Angel accreditation will be awarded to investors who can demonstrate their experience and knowledge in making angel investments. This new designation is particularly aimed at existing individual investors and members of angel groups and syndicates. It is anticipated that they will see the opportunity to be identified as accredited within the market and also enabling angel groups to reference that their members are accredited angels when seeking dealflow or engagement in deals.
The accredited angel framework will be awarded by UKBAA and validated by the Standards Institute for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise (SFEDI).
Angels who achieve the angel investing qualification can progress to become accredited once they have made a relevant number of investments and can demonstrate their involvement in the deals.
